From 5 to 9 December 2016 the ICAO workshop on the development of Performance Based Navigation (PBN) implementation plans had been held in Bishkek. The representatives from 8 countries attended this workshop: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Some states have already prepared plans for PBN implementation and in the course of the seminar rendered a great practical help.
ICAO intentions of global PBN implementation will contribute the more efficient use of airspace and will create conditions for more flexible approach to the development of maneuvering procedures in terminal areas. This in its turn should lead to improving flight safety level, capacity, and more predictable flight path of aircraft, improving operational efficiency, fuel economy and minimizing of negative impact on the environment.
